Remodel Progress

Notice is hereby given to all eligible voters in Clayton County, Iowa, that a Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2012.  Voters must declare a party affiliation (Republican or Democratic) to vote in this election. What's New in County 22 - April 2012

Actually this last month at the sheriff’s office it has been pretty busy.  Drug use and investigations are up.  Meth labs and marijuana grows are up.  Theft reports are down a little bit.  A lot of sexual assault complaints are going on.  My experience is that this is normal.  They always say things go in “threes” and when I was criminal investigator it seems we would get three and then it would be quiet for a couple of months.  April is also National Sexual Assault Awareness month.  I researched a few tips for you, but it is geared toward the younger crowd;

• Avoid abuse of alcohol.  It is often a factor in date rape and other sexual assaults.  It also doesn’t make you think clearly.
• Trust your instincts about possible danger.  If someone or something makes you uneasy, get out or away.
• Be willing to ask for help to ensure your own well-being.
• Be committed to the safety of others.  Make the effort to help friends get home safely.
• Know the person you are dating.  Meet new people in public places.  Date in groups.
• Be aware of your surroundings.  Whenever possible walk with a group of people or a friend.
