On December 14, 2018 at 7:45pm, Clayton County Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on Millville Road. Upon further investigation, Deputies determined that Adam Knaack of Guttenberg was operating a 2002 Honda Accord when he lost control, entered the ditch and overturned causing $8,000 damage. No injuries were reported. Knaack was charged with failure to maintain control, open container and failure to wear seat belt. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Guttenberg Fire Department and Guttenberg Ambulance Service.

 

On December 20, 2018 at 8:28pm, Clayton County Deputies conducted a traffic stop on 182nd Street for a traffic violation. Deputies came into contact with 35 year old Lance Grimm of Luana and a passenger, 38 year old Christina Robbins of McGregor. During the stop, the Clayton County K9 was utilized to conduct an open air sniff on the vehicle. K9 Raven indicated to the presence of illegal narcotics in the vehicle. Deputies located methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. Both Grimm and Robbins were arrested and transported to the Clayton County Jail awaiting an initial appearance . Grimm is being charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, no insurance, and improper rear lamp. Robbins is being charged with possession of a controlled substance-methamphetamine 3rd offense (Class “D” Felony) and possession of drug paraphernalia.

 

On December 23, 2018 at 1:00am, Clayton County Deputies responded to a car vs deer accident on Highway 18 near 145th Street. Deputies determined that Katie Peters of Farmersburg was operating a 2014 Dodge Journey when she struck a deer causing $1,500 damage. No injuries were reported.

 

On December 23, 2018 at 5:06pm, Clayton County Deputies responded to a car vs deer accident on Highway 18 near 145th Street. Deputies determined that Daniel Thompson of Castalia was operating a 2013 Chrysler 300 when he struck a deer causing $12,000 damage. No injuries were reported.

 

On December 25, 2018, Clayton County Deputies arrested 33 year old Derek Schroeder of Elgin on a Clayton County Warrant for failure to serve jail sentence.

 

On December 25, 2018, Clayton County Deputies arrested 48 year old Todd Knipfel of Prairie Du Chien on a Clayton County Warrant for failure to serve jail sentence.

 

On December 25, 2018 at 5:00pm, Clayton County Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 52 and King Road. Deputies determined that Timothy Moose of Garnavillo was operating a 1991 Chevrolet S10 when he lost control causing his vehicle to enter the ditch and strike a stop sign causing $1,500 damage. Moose was cited for failure to maintain control. No injuries were reported. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol.

 

On December 26, 2018, Clayton County Deputies arrested 27 year old Joseph Gager of Edgewood on a Clayton County Warrant for failure to serve jail sentence.

 

On December 26, 2018 at 7:10pm, Clayton County Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on the Colesburg Road south of Elkport. Deputies determined that Jonathan Scherf of Dubuque was operating a 2014 Chevrolet Impala when he lost control negotiating a curve. His vehicle entered the ditch and overturned causing $10,000 damage. No injuries were reported. Scherf was cited for Failure to Maintain Control, and Failure to use seat belts. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Garber Fire and First Responders, and the Colesburg Ambulance.

 

On December 26, 2018 at 10:24pm, Clayton County Deputies responded to a vehicle vs rock on Highway 52 south of Guttenberg. Upon further investigation, Alex Neiland of Guttenberg was operating a 2016 Kia Sorento when he struck several large rocks causing $3,000 damage. No injuries were reported. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Guttenberg Police Department, Guttenberg Fire Department and Guttenberg Ambulance Service.
