Position: Elected to four year terms
The County Attorney's Office is a part-time position that is responsible for enforcement of laws and providing legal advice and defense to the county officials. No one is eligible for this office who has not passed the state bar examination.
Some of the duties of the County Attorney are:
- Prosecute all crimes committed in the county
- Defend the county in all action brought against it
- Collect money due on forfeited bonds
- Legal advisor for the Board of Supervisors and other county officials in official business
- Convene the grand jury
