Board of Supervisors Minutes - December 7, 2011

Meeting of the Board of Supervisors at their office, 200 E. Bridge St., Elkader, IA
Present:  Larry Gibbs, Gary Bowden, Ron McCartney
 
Motion by McCartney, seconded by Bowden, to approve the claims for payment as presented.  Ayes:  Gibbs, McCartney, Bowden
 
Motion by McCartney, seconded by Bowden, to hire Piper Jaffray for professional services in regard to issuance of general obligation bonds for the renovation of the Delong building to a county office building.  Ayes:  Gibbs, McCartney, Bowden
 
Brandy Crozier requested that the Board make a proclamation regarding participation in the Governor’s  “100 Day Live Health Iowa Wellness Challenge”.
Motion by Bowden, seconded by McCartney, to make the following proclamation:

LIVE HEALTHY CLAYTON COUNTY PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS The American obesity crisis and health-related problems associated with obesity and inactivity are issues that demand each community take action;
WHEREAS leaders from across Clayton County recognize the importance of establishing a county-wide wellness coalition to implement the ultimate goal for Clayton County to be regarded as the healthiest county in Iowa
WHEREAS Live Healthy Clayton County’s 100 Day Wellness Challenge offers hope through increased physical activity and healthier nutrition choices;
THEREFORE, We, SUPERVISORS OF CLAYTON COUNTY do hereby endorse a County-wide coalition for proclaim the dates January 23 – May 1, 2012 as the time to begin to practice LIVE HEALTHY CLAYTON COUNTY and we do hereby urge 1,705 or more citizens of Clayton County from all businesses, schools, churches and civic organizations interested in living a healthier life through healthy nutrition and activity choices unite together to make Clayton County the healthiest county in Iowa.

Matt Parrott/Single Source made a proposal for a complete package for renovation of the Delong building professional services.

Larry Gibbs and Ron McCartney met with the Cassville Ferry Commission regarding their long term plans for a hard surfaced road on the Iowa side to the ferry landing.
