Meeting of the Board of Supervisors at their office, 200 E. Bridge St., Elkader, IA.
Present: Robert Walke, Neil Meyer, Larry Gibbs
The board approved claims for payment.
Supervisor Robert Walke left the meeting to help at the county fair.
A public hearing was held regarding a proposed resolution for sale of real estate to the City of Garnavillo. No one objected to the proposed resolution.
Motion by Gibbs, seconded by Meyer, to adopt resolution #23-2005 regarding a sale of real estate to the City of Garnavillo. Ayes: Meyer, Gibbs
Resolution # 23-2005
WHEREAS, Clayton County, has a property interest to the following described real estate:
Lot 4 of Block 3 of South Garnavillo Addition, in Garnavillo, Iowa, and part of Lot 5 of Block 3 being the southeasterly 20 feet of said Lot 5 adjacent Lot 4, all in Block 3 of South Garnavillo Addition in Garnavillo, Iowa in Clayton County, Iowa.
Also part of Block 9 of Garnavillo, Iowa, described as commencing at the northerly corner of said Lot 5 of Block 3 of South Garnavillo Addition, thence northwesterly along a line extended from the easterly line of said Lot 5, 12 feet, thence southwesterly on a line parallel to the northwesterly line of said Lot 5 Block 3, 26 feet to the south line of said Block 9, thence east to the point of beginning.
(This property is subject to a prior easement granted the Town of Garnavillo, Iowa, over Lots 4 and 5 of Block 3 of South Garnavillo Addition by Walter F. and Marguerite F. Wright on 3-3-55 and filed 12-14-44 for construction and maintenance of municipal sewer line.)
WHEREAS, the property has been deemed as surplus property as it was the county secondary roads shop at Garnavillo before the new jointly owned county/city shop was built,
WHEREAS, the City of Garnavillo has offered to purchase the property for $7,500,
WHEREAS, in accordance with Chapter 331.361(2) of the CODE OF IOWA, 2005, notice of a public hearing is published in the Clayton County Register on July 20, 2005, for a hearing to be held on August 3, 2005,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors of Clayton County, Iowa, that the Board Chairman, Neil Meyer, and County Auditor, Dennis Freitag, be authorized to execute a Quit Claim Deed to the City of Garnavillo for said real estate.
Motion by Gibbs, seconded by Meyer, to approve the liquor license renewal application for Tri-City Golf Club, Inc. Ayes: Meyer, Gibbs
Vicki Bloxham, Upper Explorerland Regional Planning Commission, presented a drawdown request for the Elkader Day Care project for signature of the Board Chairman and updated the board on the progress of the project that it is 28% complete in construction phase.
Linda Orr, County Treasurer, presented an addendum to Section VI. Financing of the agreement between Clayton County and the Iowa Department of Transportation for drivers license issuance. Motion by Gibbs, seconded by Meyer, to approve the addendum presented. Ayes: Meyer, Gibbs
Motion by Gibbs, seconded by Meyer, to approve a fireworks permit to Bud & Myra Voss. Ayes: Meyer, Gibbs
Motion by Gibbs, seconded by Meyer, to approve the minutes of July 25th and 27th and August 1st and 3rd . Ayes: Meyer, Gibbs
