Meeting of the Board of Supervisors at their office, 200 E. Bridge St., Elkader, IA.
Present: Robert Walke, Neil Meyer, Larry Gibbs

Motion by Gibbs, seconded by Walke, to open a public hearing on the status of funds on a Community Development Block Grant for the Elkader Child Care Center. Ayes: Walke, Meyer, Gibbs

The following statement was made by Vicki Bloxham, Upper Explorerland Regional Planning Commission:

This is the time and date for the Status of Funds Hearing on the Community Development Block Grant for the Elkader Child Care Center. The Community Development Block Grant (CCBG) application was sponsored by the Clayton County Board of Supervisors. This hearing is to update citizens on the progress.
The original project was for new building construction. There was a request for a change in the scope of the project to purchase an existing structure and remodel the structure to fit the child care center’s needs. This request was approved by the Iowa Department of Economic Development. The renovation and new addition is approximately 7,000 square feet on the main floor and approximately 750 square feet on the lower level (partial basement); the main floor includes areas for the Elkader Child-care and Learning Center and the Head-start Program. The basement contains the mechanical equipment and space for some storage.
As of August 31, 2005, there has been $649,177 spent for project costs out of the original budget of $725,187.
The project scope has changed but the location has not changed; the objectives, beneficiaries, and performance targets remain the same. The project is on schedule; with an IDED contract end date of February 1, 2006.
No one else was present or commented regarding this hearing.
Motion by Walke, seconded by Gibbs, to adjourn the public hearing. Ayes: Walke, Meyer, Gibbs
