Meeting of the Board of Supervisors at their office, 200 E. Bridge St., Elkader, IA.

Present:  Larry Gibbs, Wayne Bockenstedt, Randy Keehner

 

Motion by Keehner, seconded by  Bockenstedt, to approve streetlight and sign  installation at the intersection of Hwy 3 and Alpha Ave by Ewalu Camp at no cost to the county.  Ayes:  Gibbs, Bockenstedt, Keehner

 

Motion by Bockenstedt, seconded by Keehner, to approve resolution # 24-2007 regarding advertising for bids on a seal coat project on Ironwood and Jolly Ridge Road.  Ayes:  Gibbs, Bockenstedt, Keehner

 

Resolution #25-2007

BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors of Clayton County, Iowa, that the County Auditor be directed to advertise for bids on the following project:

            LFM-1803—7X-22 Seal Coat projects located on Jolly Ridge Road in Sections 29, 30, 32 and 33 Jefferson Township and on Ironwood Road in Sections 13, 14, 19, 24 and 30 Volga Township, Clayton County.

            Bids will be received until 11:00  A.M. August 29, 2007, at the office of the Clayton County Auditor in the Courthouse in Elkader, Iowa.

 

Richard Zahasky, labor negotiator, discussed the grievance regarding the change in health insurance coverage with the board.

 

Dennis Errthum requested a leave of absence effective from August 16^th at 4:30 PM from employment for 6 months or a year until he could return to his duties.  He is talented at the work that he does with eight years of experience and would take time to train a replacement with additional cost , his OWI was his first offense and on his own time with his own vehicle, and he has the support of his fellow workers to fill in his duties.  Motion by Bockenstedt, seconded by Keehner, to grant an unpaid leave of absence with no fringe benefits for the period of six months subject to extension by the board.  Compensatory time will be paid out but the rest of the benefits are frozen.
