Meeting of the Board of Supervisors at their office, 200 E. Bridge St,
Elkader, IA
Present: Larry Gibbs, Randy Keehner Absent: Wayne Bockenstedt (in Des
Moines)
The board approved claims for payment.
Motion by Keehner, seconded by Gibbs, to sign the final plan for Golden
Ave. Ayes: Gibbs, Keehner
Nancy Yelden, Clayton County VNA, Frank Phippen, Clayton County Board of
Health, and Nan Colin, Executive Director of VNA, discussed the
financial situation of deficit funding with the Clayton County Visiting
Nurse Association. Due to the state cuts made to the Iowa Department of
Health funding county public health services, the county’s appropriated
amount of $83,000 has been used up as of January 2010 with funding
needed to June 2010. Cutting out certified services was discussed as
part of the solution. It is a shame to have to cut these services as
they are what keep elderly people living in their home instead of having
to be placed in a nursing home with more expense. It will also mean a
cut in staff. A budget amendment was requested.
Motion by Keehner, seconded by Gibbs, to approve the minutes of February
1, 3, 10 and 17, 2010. Ayes: Gibbs, Keehner
